Today:- Jan – Rishikesh- Actor Anil Kapoor & Bollywood Film Producer Shri David Dhawan came home to Parmarth Niketan on the occasion of the New Years to meet with Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji, President of Parmarth Niketan, Founder of the Global Interfaith WASH Alliance (GIWA), and Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswatiji, Secretary General of GIWA and perform the world-renowned Ganga Aarti.
They also had discussions and were encouraged to pledge for new directions and commitments to protect Planet Earth, its life, its resources and especially its water.
Said HH Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji, President, Parmarth Niketan and Founder, Ganga Action Parivar and Global Interfaith WASH Alliance, “It was right here, from the lap of the Himalayas, that our sages gave a clarion call for transforming the world by the power of thought. They did not speak for any one race, creed or community. India has always stood for all-embracing oneness and togetherness. In this New Year, we have to take inspiration from this ancient tradition. We have to change our thoughts so that our world can change. We have the example of Anil Kapoor, a versatile actor who is also a wonderful leader and mentor. Let our film industry also take the responsibility to highlight environmental issues. Films can inspire people for saving our planet, our trees, our rivers and our water. If we don’t save water, what will save our lives?”
Said Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswatiji, Secretary General, Global Interfaith WASH Alliance, “So great to have our beloved Anil Kapoor, a member of our divine Parmarth Parivar (Parmarth Family), join us with Shri David Dhawan to start the New Year with new thoughts & new ideas, as Pujya Swamiji encouraged them for Bollywood Social Responsibility to use their influence & impact to protect our rivers, our water & our environment.”
Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji presented saplings of the sacred Rudraksha to the distinguished guests.
Before leaving the ashram they performed a divine water blessings ceremony to show their solidarity to this cause of protecting our planet and our world. Actor, Anil Kapoor and Bollywood Film Producer David Dhawanji showed their agreement to Pujya Swamiji’s concern over the Earth’s dwindling water resources and the increasingly polluted air, water and soil. They discussed the idea with Pujya Swamiji and Sadhvi Bhagawatiji of engaging Bollywood to take a stand for the planet’s water, for Mother Nature and Mother Earth as part of, what Pujya Swamiji coined, their BSR or Bollywood Social Responsibility.
As hundreds of arms rose into the sky to pledge for the planet, Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji inspired that hope was in all hands, saying: “In the New Year, let us set new precedents and carry the torch for our environment. Begin with planting trees. From this, comes rain. Let us bring our trees back and thereby ring in a new future for Mother Earth as our pledge for the New Year.”
Later, FICCI Assistant Secretary General, Shri Nirankar Saxena, who was also visiting Parmarth for the New Years, said, “now is the time for India to go into mission mode to save our rivers and to save our water. This is a high calling to all noble souls to take action while we can.”
