Comic Con India hosted a grand 5th edition of Delhi Comic Con

Today:- New Delhi, Dec- Comic Con India hosted city’s biggest pop culture event ‘Delhi Comic Con 2015’ with a grand response from fans and participants. DCC 2015 in its 5th year saw a spectacular line-up of events including Special International Guest appearances, Exclusive Experiential & Gaming Zones, Artist Alley, Fans sessions, Cosplay, Book Launches and much more! The fest received accolades from participants and fans from across all age groups. The 3 day convention took place at NSIC Grounds, Okhla from December 4-6’ 2015.

Delhi Comic Con 2015 hosted interactive and experiential programming through panels, launches, gaming, video hangouts and much more. There were around 250 participants from across the world. Huge Attraction at this year’s show was Internationally acclaimed Actor, Kristian Nairn, best known for his role as Hodor in the award-winning HBO fantasy drama series ‘Game of Thrones’. He took part in special sessions, signings ((Photographs & Autographs) and was seen speaking to Fans.

Famous international personalities like Rob Denbleyker, Author of Cyanide and Happiness; Ty Templeton, Eisner Award Nominated, Comic Book Artist & writer and Dinesh Shamdasani, CEO, Valiant Entertainment attended and took special sessions at DCC 2015.

Cosplay (Costume Contest), another major attraction at Comic Con India, continued to give prizes to people in great costumes. Comic Con India had created 5 categories to increase one’s chances of winning gifts. Each day, one winner was chosen from each of the five categories:-1. Comic book/graphic novel 2. Animated Series/Movie 3. Manga/Anime 4. Sci-Fi/Fantasy and 5. Gaming. Also, on each day, One lucky winner out of the chosen 5 won A GOLDEN TICKET TO BEIJING COMIC CON!
Comic Con India set up Exclusive Experiential and Gaming Zones at the event. Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 Experience Zone had awesome art installations and gaming for fans. This year, Delhi Comic Con featured a special Star Wars Zone. Star Wars enthusiasts were in for a treat as the much talked about Star Wars: Battle Pod made an appearance at the event to provide fans with a high-speed arcade game experience set in the Star Wars galaxy. Nodwin Gaming Zone at the event, streamed the show live to the audiences at home. The gaming zone had a slew of interesting gaming activities. On all 3 days, AXN India conducted some super awesome sessions in the AXN India Zone with amazing gifts and prizes for fans.

Amar Chitra Katha, the pioneers in India for comic books and illustrated works of literature, had kept amazing surprises for their fans. ACK brought its mega quiz to Delhi Comic Con for their young fans, with loads of awesome prizes and surprises in store.
An“Artist Alley & Indian Comics Village” exclusively featuring artists from all over India was set up at DCC 2015. Here fans got an opportunity to interact with awesome artists, illustrators, designers working for comics and related fields. The alley and the show overall featured artists like Vivek Goel, Akshay Dhar, Aniruddho Chakraborty, Faisal Mohd, Nikhil Das Gupta, Abhijeet Kini, Saumin Suresh Patel, Reshmi Chandrashekhar, Raviraj Naik, Parth Kothekar, Marcus Santiago, Rohit Soni, Leena swamy and many more.

For the sheer love for Comics, around 12 new Comic book titles got launched at the convention. These included, APJ Abdul Kalam: One Man, Many Missions by Campfire Graphic Novel, Priya Shakti by Rattapallax, Haunted! by Aayumi Productions, Vrica Ascension Protocol by ICBM : Chariot Comic, SikhPark by Dalbir and The Caravan – The Blood War 4 by Yali Dream Creations.

For the tech enthusiasts, DCC had many surprises. At the convention, Cornea Entertainment hosted an interactive session on Cinematic E-Comics, where the audiences got to experience the Comics reading in completely new way. Wacom also conducted a fun session with Artist Abhijeet Kini on How To Create Your Very Own Characters & Comic Strips.

The three day fest saw some awesome sessions. Harper collins hosted a session with Author Malik Sajad on his Graphic Novel ‘Munnu – A Boy From Kashmir’, A Beautifully Drawn Graphic Novel That Illuminates The Conflicted Land Of Kashmir, Through A Young Boy’s Childhood. It was an engrossing and in depth session on the making of the novel.
At the convention, fans got to buy merchandise from the best and most exclusive International merchandisers from across the globe. Also, there were exclusive Indian merchandisers including Hysteria Stores, Planet Superheroes, Thoughts & Tales, Entertainment Store, Manga Planet, Comic Plant, IINE Toys, Funk For Hire, Graphicurry, The Souled Store, Ek Do Dhai, F Gali, Beer Studio, Purple Sack, Battees, Keep Calm Desi, The Funny Bone, Fukwaas, Speaking Walls, Dhappa, Hungover, Utpatang, Bewakoof Brand, Chimp and lots more!!

The main participants at Delhi Comic Con 2015 were Garbage Bin, Dorling Kindersley Publishing, Campfire Graphic Novel, Holy Cow Entertainment, HarperCollins Publishers India, Viz Media (Simon & Schuster India), Pop Culture Publishing, Random Comics, Aayumi Productions, Vimanika Comics, Scholastic India and many more!!

Comic Con India (CCI) takes another leap as they announced their new show “Comic Con Express Pune” at the Delhi Comic Con 2015. Comic Con Express the traveling version of the main events will be testing out Pune in 2016 with hopes of building a permanent show in the city in the coming years. More details soon.
