Innocent Should Not be Unduly Harassed: Ramdev

Today:- Dec – People are facing a lot of difficulties due to bank procedural problems and some have lost their jobs, Baba Ramdev said.He said the officials of Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Income Tax Department and banks should not unnecessarily harass honest persons once the scrutiny of money post demonetization be-gins. “The corrupt should not be spared and the honest should not be hassled,’ he said.
Suggesting that fear is created by unfair imposition of tax, he said if people fear a “similar threat” from RBI and IT sleuths it will not be good for the country. “People’s trust should not break at any cost,” he said. “I think that of the 1.25 billion, there are only around 1.25 lakh people who possess black money. They should be dealt with sternly while the innocent should not be unduly harassed,” he said.
Ramdev appealed to the government to reduce transaction charges for payments through card swipe machines. “The current rate of 2-2.5% is exorbitantly high and will adversely affect the businesses of traders and companies. The government must bring this down to 0.5% to begin with,” he said.
Strongly supporting the government’s move of demonetization, he said, “ It might appear to be a poison at the outset, but the seed (of demonetization) has been sown in real earnestness and it soon will yield sweet fruits for the country’s economy.”
He dismissed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s Charge that demonetization is a scam, saying “the economy has been put on the right track by this move and banking system stands to benefit immensely from it”.
Hailing Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for coming out in Support of demonetization, Ramdev said, “By Supporting the move, Nitish Kumar has honestly played the role of a rational, intelligent and sensible leader.”
“Only those (politicians) who have to oppose Modiji for everything are protesting. As regards those protesting the move due to hardships caused due to procedural problems, they have a democratic right to do so in our democratic setup,” he said.
When asked about disclosure by political parties about the source of “donations” they receive, Ramdev said, “All leading political parties should take an initiative to fall under the purview of Right to Information Act”.
Reacting sharply to Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s Charge of corruption against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, He said, “The charge is preposterous and frivolous. Had Gandhi Family got any so-called evidence against Modiji, they would have hanged him when he (Modi) was the Gujarat Chief Minister.”
