International Conference on Gandhi and the Contemporary World on 24-25 February, 2016

Gandhi Study Circle of Zakir Hiusain Delhi College (Morning), University of Delhi, is organizing a two day international conference on Gandhi and the contemporary world on 24-25 February, 2016. The conference will be held at the Convention centre, North Campus, University of Delhi. Eminent Gandhian scholars from across the world will participate in this conference. The inaugural session will be chaired by Dr Balmiki Prasad Singh, former Governor of Sikkim and Home Secretary of the Government of India, and Prof Douglas Allen of University of Maine will deliver the inaugural address. Prof Sukhadeo Thorat, chairperson, ICSSR, will chair the valedictory session and Ms Tara Gandhi Bhattacharjee will be the guest of honour. The other speakers include scholars such as Ashish Nandy, Prof Antony Copley, Prof Thomas Pantham, Prof Kazuya Ishii, Prof Apoorvanand, Prof G. Haragopal, Prof Gail Omvedt, Prof Mridula Mukherjee, Prof Zoya Hasan etc. Besides, a number of research scholars from different universities across the country will present papers on various themes such as Gandhian Philosophy: theoretical basis and practical dimensions, state, nation building and development process, Gandhi and Social Justice, Post-Gandhian legacy etc.
