Eminent Kathak Dancer, choreographer and Guru Smt. Kumudini Lakhia will deliver the second in the annual Kelucharan Mohapatra Memorial Lecture series in New Delhi on Friday, April 14, 2017.
Organised by the Raza Foundation, the Kelucharan Mohapatra Memorial is an annual lecture addressing and airing concerns relating to Indian dance held at the India Habitat Centre, Lodi Road in New Delhi. It is conducted in the memory of Padma Vibhushan Kelucharan Mohapatra, a great guru of Odissi who is credited for the revival of the classical dance form in the 20th century.
The second in the lecture series will see the celebrated danseuse, choreographer and Guru Smt. Kumudini Lakhia deliver a talk titled ‘Kathak in Our Times’. The Kathak doyenne has been a practitioner for nearly 50 years and has won national and international attention and praise for her pioneering work in the ancient classical dance form.
The open-to-public lecture will run for an hour and a half with questions answers at the end.
