Kirori Mal College (KMC) was declared the city winner: College Debate

Today :- Jan – A team from Kirori Mal College (KMC) was declared the city winner of the first edition of Daring Debates organized by Ramjas College as part of its ongoing centennial year celebrations from January 2017. The debate was on: Can civil society advance social change?’ “I think it’s a responsibility of every individual to care about social change and be sensitive towards society,” said Krishtijeet Das, the city winner along with Ananya Nanda from KMC. Participants from Maitreyi College, Shri Ram College of Commerce, Hindu, Janki Devi Memorial College, Ramjas and other institutions spoke about issues such as homosexuality, the Anna Hazare movement, Arab Spring and the Jasmine Movement. After Delhi, Kolkata, Goa and Guwahati, Mumbai will be the last city to host the preliminary rounds of the debate. The winning team from each city will battle it out at the finale of Difficult Dialogues (DD) at International Centre Goa on January 30,2016. DD is curated by the South Asia Centre, London School of Economics and Political Science and a nonprofit, Television for the Environment. “We are expecting a larger platform in Goa where we can share our views much more strongly,” added the winners. The debates are aimed at bringing students from different strata in a civil society discourse and creating space for meaningful discussions.
