People throw turnips on volunteer as part of festival

Today :- Jan – Hundreds of people have gathered in the small town Piornal in southwest Spain for the Jarramplas festival. The festivities, which take place from January 19-20, include dressing up a person like a beast and then throwing turnips at him. This year, the local farmers provided around 18 tons of turnips that were eventually hurled at the volunteer. While the beast is meant to represent a cattle thief, some believe the festival has religious roots.
