Rural women powering digital India’

Today:- Aug – Union Minister of Electronics and IT, Law & Justice Ravi Shankar Prasad Lauds village entrepreneurs who provide digital services in Naxal-hit Dantewada and announces incentives
Villager entrepreneurs, particularly; women, have taken the lead in providing government services through the common service centers (CSCs) they run-in far-flung areas, thereby powering up the digital India campaign, said the Union Minister of Electronics and It, Law & Justice, Mr Ravi Shankar Praad.
Inaugurating a national conference on “Emerging Opportunities through CSC” at Siri Fort Auditorium in New Delhi, he particularly mentioned the name of Janki Kashyap, who provides digital services in the Naxal-affected area of Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh. Addressing the audience of more than 2,500 village-level entrepreneurs or VLEs, Mr Prasad said his Ministry would send five best-performing women entrepreneurs to the United States and award Rs 1 lakh to outstanding district VLE societies. The Minister also administered “Sankalp se Siddhi” pledge to all VLEs and officials present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Acharya Balkrishna Ji of Patanjali Ayurveda assured complete assistance for selling Patanjali products in rural areas through CSC centers. He said that 40.000 CSCs had registered with Patanjali for medical tele-consultations through 800 ayurvedic practitioners, benefitting citizens in rural India. He announced free yoga training to CSC VLEs at Patanjali Yog Pith to teach yoga in rural areas and realise the dream of making India disease- free.
Dr Ajay Bhushan Pandey, CEO, UIDAI, appreciated the achievements of CSC VLEs in discharging Aadhaar services in rural areas. Mr Bhushan said VLEs in rural areas had helped UIDAI in enrolling children, old people, patients and those who could not travel to Aadhaar centres by visiting their homes.
The Secretary, MEITY, Mr Ajay Prakash Sawhney, said that the Ministry was able to connect with people in rural India through CSC VLEs, who provide government services intensively.
The Ministry launched new services, including sale of Patanjali FMCG products through CSCs, Bharat Bill pay service through CSCs, and Deposit Service in Aadhaar- enabled payment system called Digi Pay
Several MoUs were exchanged like one for the sale of IFFCO products, fertilisers and seeds through CSCs, MoU between CSC & IGNOU for extending IGNOU services to citizens, the agreement between NeGD & IGNOU for cooperation in the field of awareness and capacity-building activities and MoU for tele-radiology services through CSCs.
Seven VLEs and four district VLE societies were also awarded for playing an exponential role in delivering services to citizens.
