Select CITYWALK pays tribute to the heroes of Indian army on 21st and 22nd July

Hosts two-day event to celebrate the Kargil Vijay Diwas with the families of the martyrs and the heroic army dogs

Today:- July, New Delhi – Paying tribute to the Indian army, Select CITYWALK, the most popular shopping centre in Delhi NCR, is organizing a two-day event dedicated to salute the war heroes. The two-day event will include Indian Army Dog Show which is slated to take place from 5 to 6 pm on Saturday, 21st July and Kargil Vijay Diwas: No Man Left Behind that will be hosted from 6 pm onwards on Sunday 22nd July, 2018 in The Plaza Area of Select CITYWALK.

For the first time ever in a civilian area, Select CITYWALK will host the Indian Army Dog show with 12 heroic military dogs. These four-legged unsung heroes have displayed exemplary heroism by playing a key role in rescuing several survivors including Hanumanthappa during Siachen avalanche.

Honouring the families of 13 martyrs, the shopping center will pay tribute to the heroes of the Kargil war. Ms Madhulika Rawat, W/O Army Chief Bipin Rawat and President of Army Women Welfare Association will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest on Kargil Vijay Diwas. Also, present will be Major General GD Bakshi, a proud recipient of Sena Medal for distinguished service.

Speaking on the occasion, Yogeshwar Sharma, Executive Director and CEO, Select CITYWALK said, “We at Select CITYWALK always take great pride in our war heroes. On Kargil Diwas, we feel privileged to honour the families of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives protecting the borders and making sure that our country is safe. This will also give the mall patrons a great platform to interact with martyr’s family.”

The event will be attended by the eminent dignitaries including Major General Dhruv C Katoch, Air Vice Marshal BK Bishnoi and Vir Chakra recipient, Air Commodore Anil Kumar Sinha. The entire show will be emceed by Sangeeta Bedi, ex-news anchor of Doordarshan.
The event will commence with the felicitation of the families of the martyrs, followed by a Patriotic Dance by the Cyclone Group. The four toppers of Army Public Schools will also be presented with Inder Sharma Kargil Award for Academic Excellence. Late in the evening, there will be a Hand Shadow Performance by Prahlad Acharya, the Udupi-based magician-turned shadow player followed by the army band performance. The event will conclude with Painting Miracle – A tribute by Vilas Nayak and Laser Show.
