Today’s educational system needs to focus on innovation and research: President

Today:- March – Inaugurating the three-day international conference on the theme of “Universities of the Future: Knowledge, Innovation and Responsibility” at O. P. Jindal Global University at Sonipat in Haryana on March, 18, President of India Pranab Mukherjee stated that today’s education needs to focus on innovation and research.
Mukherjee also appreciated the three-day conference that seeks to examine the future of Indian universities in the 21st century. He also complemented the Jindal Global University for emphasising on research, development, and innovation and keeping it as its basic objective.
Mukherjee was of the view that education system must meet the ‘challenge of tapping its demographic dividend’ to provide a competent skilled workforce by establishing an ‘interface between education and industry’.
The President also stressed that the universities need to have ‘inspired teachers who can ignite the minds of students and encourage them to think out of the box’ and encourage students to have problem-solving minds through ingenuity.
Also, it was essential to establish linkages between innovation and the market along with strong linkages with various stakeholders in society, he suggested.
